Home reading in KS2

Children read banded books – orange star, blue star, green star and red star if they are not yet fluent readers. These books vary in difficultly and help children develop comprehension and vocabulary skills. 

When children have finished the banded books they are ‘free readers’ and can choose any books to read at home 

Children bring home a library book that they have chosen from the school library – they are also encouraged to read for pleasure using books they have at home 

Parents can upload a comment on Seesaw to let the teacher know how their child is reading 

Children can contribute to a class padlet to share reading recommendations
