Breakfast/After School Club (BASC)

> Parents > Breakfast/After School Club (BASC)

Here you will find all the information you need on Brooklands Primary School’s full programme of wraparound care, dedicated to providing a warm, fun and stimulating environment where children can spend quality time with their friends and trusted, familiar adults outside of school hours.

Our Breakfast Club is open from 7:30am, offering a wide selection of a wide range of breakfast options. Here the children can meet up with their friends over breakfast and get ready for the school day in a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

After School Club takes place from 3:30pm until 6pm in a variety of spaces across the school site. We offer a varied, healthy menu of hot and cold fare for the children’s afternoon snack, always accompanied by a range of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Our experienced playworkers – many of whom have been in post for over 10 years – and high staff-to-pupil ratios ensure that our play provision is of a consistently high quality, and that our children’s social, emotional and physical needs can be met rapidly and effectively.

We plan and set up our play spaces afresh each day, ensuring a constantly changing selection of toys and games suitable for all ages and tastes. While we are very much child-led, we actively encourage and support the children to participate in a wide range of activities both indoors and out, from ball games, scooters and trikes in the playground (weather permitting) to construction, imaginative play and a comfy book corner in our spacious hall. We also have regular use of the playground, field and group rooms where we can supervise dedicated activities for specific age groups.

Creativity and mastering practical skills is at the heart of our provision, with drawing, painting, model-making and cake decorating just some of the regular activities on offer. Our craft activities inspire the children to use a variety of media from paint and chalk to feathers and sequins to express their ideas. We make art just for fun, but also to mark important events in the children’s personal and cultural calendars, whether it’s Dad’s birthday or Diwali!
