At Brooklands, we are committed to supporting pupils with sensory needs by creating an environment where children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. As a whole school, we support all children through inclusive strategies within the classroom, for example using zones of regulation, sensory breaks, mindfulness and daily Brooklands breathing practice. We also support children who may benefit from more targeted support and a personalised approach, through targeted strategies such as sensory circuits, use of the Cubbie and personalised regulation choices. Through all of this, we help every child feel comfortable, confident, and able to thrive.
The website semh.co.uk has a sensory suggester tool which may support parents with recognising and supporting sensory needs at home. The interactive questionnaire allows parents to select sensory needs and behaviours they may see from their child at home, and creates a bank of associated sensory strategies to use at home to support these needs.
